What is Partial Truck Load?
Partial truckload shipping is a different type of freight altogether, being something of a hybrid between LTL and FTL. PTL is generally the same truck that picks up a shipment and is the same one that’s going to deliver it. This means that with PTL shipping the cargo has less of a chance for damage.
Benefits of Partial Truck Load
When shipping partial shipments, this can be cost effective since the customer is only paying for the space being utilized on the trailer. The rest of the trailer space will be utilized by other freight that will be picked up and dropped off.
PTL shipping doesn’t charge you for dimensional weight which LTL is notorious for.
Who is PTL for?
PTL types are typically geared towards small-medium sized businesses that may not have the means or need to ship or receive FTLs but have too much freight for LTL Services
